Adopting a parrot is a significant commitment, and we seek compassionate individuals who view these incredible birds as family members, not just pets or social media stars. Understanding that birds have long lifespans and may face behavioral challenges is crucial. Depending on the bird, this could be a lifetime commitment.

 

By completing the form below, you acknowledge the importance of investing time at our rescue to connect with various birds before making a decision. This reflects the patience and readiness needed to provide the loving care a parrot deserves.

Please keep these important policies in mind:

• We do not ship birds.

• We do not adopt birds beyond a 200 mile radius from our location in Brighton, Michigan.

• We are not a pet store. We require multiple visits to ensure compatibility before taking a bird home.

• Adopters have a 90 day trial period before official ownership is transferred.

• You must be 21 to apply. 

   

Immediate denials will go through for:

• Applicants who demonstrate impatience or contact us excessively during the adoption process. We seek adopters who show patience, understanding, and respect for the time and care involved in our placement process.

• smokers in the home

• ferrets in the home

• an excessive amount of pets (evaluated based on type of animals)

• new bird owners wanting a large parrot

• bird breeders of any kind

 

We will keep this application on file and if/when we have a bird we think would make a good fit, we will reach out to you. Mulberry Acres reserves the right to approve or deny any application at our sole discretion. While we are not obligated to provide an explanation, we may choose to do so when appropriate.
