Mango

Green Cheek Conure ~ Male ~ 3 years old

MANGO'S STORY: Mango is a brave, curious little man who loves to snuggle (on his own terms). He was dearly loved by his family of three years, but they did not know much about birds. Mango's frequent biting became an issue after a while, especially when he started to fly at family members wanting to bite. (Sometimes conures do this, thinking it is Great Fun, but Mango's family did not find it fun.) When Mango went into his enclosure, he would scream so much that he hurt the family dog's ears. (Conures also do this a lot, sometimes screeching for hours, calling for their flock members.)

Mango's owners knew this type of pet would be better off with someone more experienced, but they didn't want to re-home Mango to just anyone. They feared he might be abused due to his aggression and loud nature. They wanted a place where Mango could be free to fly and become the bird he was always meant to be, so they chose to bring him to Mulberry Acres.

"We are so happy he can join a bird flock and know he will be cared for and loved the rest of his life." ~ Mango's owners

Since being at Mulberry Acres, we've learned that Mango does indeed bite out of fun and excitement. This is something we will be working on through positive reinforcement and training.
