Mello
Species: Indian Ringneck
Age: unknown young
Sex: female
Size: medium
Adoption Status: ✅ Available
Mello's Story: Mello came to us with another Indian Ringneck, Ringo, after their owner passed away. The extended family did not have experience owning birds.
Temperament: Mello is sweet and tame and knows how to step up. She is very food-motivated and loves to free-fly around the house. She enjoys riding on shoulders and having her head scratched.
Talks/Sings?: Female IRNs usually do not mimic speech, but they will use calls to communicate. Mello does a version of a wolf whistle that is very cute! She also makes a lot of sweet purring sounds, squeaks and squeals when she is being affectionate.
Favorite Activities: She enjoys shredding paper and EATING. ALL. THE. THINGS. She will be on your lap or in your face if you are eating a meal!
Favorite Treats: Peanuts
Best Quirk: Mello is very curious and she's very entertaining when she is exploring the house!
Best Fit: Mello will need an owner who will dedicate time for training and mental stimulation. She will also need a home where she can be let out of her enclosure to fly every day.
Can Live with Other Birds?: So far Mello has done well around other birds, although she has displayed a bit of territory aggression here and there.
Noise Level: Loud
Diet: Hagen Tropican lifetime pellets, Bird Street Bistro cooked food, fresh veggies and fruit, seeds and nuts
Cage & Play Area Needs: Large flight cage with narrow bar spacing -- IRNs have very wide wingspans and need room to flap their wings inside their enclosure. They are also notorious for escaping enclosures so use carabiners to secure openings. She prefers a large shallow dish for bathing.
Health Notes: Mello is in great health, no concerns
Adoption Fee: $450
