Mr. Surprise

Cockatiel ~ Normal Gray

🦜 Species: Cockatiel

🎂 Age: 1 year

👫 Sex: M

📏 Size: small

📝 Mr. Surprise's Story: Mr. Surprise was a Pet Smart bird and bonded to the other cockatiel caged with him. When that bird was sold, Mr. Surprise grieved intensely. He became aggressive toward the Pet Smart employees, and they were unsure they would be able to sell him. He was brought to the sanctuary so he could find another mate and live out a happy and fulfilled life. He was introduced to Anju, a female also looking for a home, and it was love at first sight. Mr. Surprise is a very protective and supportive husband, which you can see for yourself if you come to visit our Sanctuary Flock!

🤔 What's with the name? We thought Mr. Surprise was a female at first, and because he was so aggressive, we started calling "her" Miss Hiss or Missy. Once it was decided "she" was a "he," we quickly changed the name from Missy to Mister. Then he officially became Mr. Surprise 2, after a similar scenario our crew member Claudia had as a child, when one of her female cockatiels turned out to also be male. Surprise!

Temperament: Protective of Anju, shy of people

🎶 Talks/Sings?: He sings a little bit, and will likely learn more songs as he grows up!

🧩 Favorite Activities: His entire focus is Anju and making sure she is making safe decisions. If she does anything he thinks is suspicious, he will let her know. (Not that she pays him much mind, but it is cute to watch!)

🥜 Favorite Treats: Seeeeeeeeds

🐦 Best Quirk: Mr. Surprise has a bright yellow crest that is often sticking straight up on his head, making him look like a California surfer dude with 80's spiked hair.
