You

Congo African Grey ~ Female

~ 22 years old

You is a brave, confident, and lovable soul. She is extremely content to sit on your lap while you read a book or scroll your phone. It's all she wants to do in life!

You's Story: You and her twin sister, Hey, came to us after their long-time owner could no longer keep them. It didn't take You very long to grow accustomed to the sanctuary, and now she loves getting attention from the entire staff. She loves to give a kiss, then ask for a head scritch. Oh, and if you're eating something, she'll definitely ask for a bite of that, too.

Favorite Pastimes:  Giving kisses, sitting on you, making all sorts of beeping sounds.

Favorite Food: Pretty much anything! She's a great eater, and eats her pellets like a good girl.

Favorite Flock Member: Benji

Diet: Harrison's High Potency Coarse pellets, Bird Street Bistro cooked mix, vegetables finely chopped, and seeds sparingly

Cage & Play Area Needs: You needs a special needs enclosure and a play area she can climb to. She is a great climber!

Health Notes: You's lab results are good, she is healthy, but she does pluck her feathers. Her vet believes this is a habit and You will continue to do this for her entire life.

Noise Level: Loud! You likes to make a lot of high-pitched sounds if she is not sitting on someone's lap. She is probably not a good fit for someone living in an apartment or shared home.

Best Fit: You will need an owner capable of caring for a special needs bird. You is permanently disabled with no claws on most of her toes. This means she has trouble gripping on surfaces. She doesn't have any flight feathers either, so this makes balancing very difficult for her. You will need to be supervised at all times while out of her enclosure, and an owner who can care for her if she falls and hurts herself. This means vet visits and first aid.
