Charlie
🦜 Species: Cockatiel
🎂 Age: 12 years
👫 Sex: M
📏 Size: small
📝 Charlie's Story: Charlie was surrendered due to his owner moving for work. We have all enjoyed Charlie's company at the rescue! He is a darling bird.
✨ Temperament: Charlie is not yet trained to step up onto hands, and he can be quite fearful of hands reaching into his enclosure. However, once he is out and flying around (which he loves to do!) he will sit on his person as long as they will allow, give kisses, and groom them.
🎶 Talks/Sings?: Charlie sings and makes kissing sounds, he also loves to say "Hi Charlie!"
🥜 Favorite Treats: Charlie isn't very food motivated, so we haven't found a treat he really likes yet.
💡 Best Fit: Charlie needs an owner who is patient and committed to training him how to step up so he can be handled regularly. A home where he can fly freely without fear of ceiling fans or predator pets. Charlie has a tendency to fly into windows, so safety measures will need to be taken in that regard. Charlie is used to being on his own during the day, so someone who works away from home is fine -- as long as they take Charlie out each evening and enjoy his company to the fullest.
🐦 Can Live with Other Birds?: Charlie doesn't seem scared of any other birds at the rescue.
📢 Noise Level: Charlie's singing can be very high-pitched and loud! But he is one of the quietest cockatiels at the sanctuary.
🐦 Best Quirk: Charlie likes to "make biscuits" with his feet on your hand.
🥦 Diet: Hagen Tropican Lifetime Pellets, veggie and fruit mash
🏠 Cage & Play Area Needs: Charlie will need a medium-sized flight cage, plenty of toys, and perches around the house.
🩺 Health Notes: None
💲 Adoption Fee: $250
