Ruby's Story: Ruby came to the rescue with five other birds, all from the same home, after their owner could no longer care for them. She has lived a long and exciting life! Ruby was once chosen as a model for a print ad for Dodge automobiles due to her vibrant colors.
Temperament: Ruby is super chill, and loves to just hang out in the same room as her people.
Talks/Sings?: She has one phrase she loves to say, "Hi Ruby!"
Favorite Activities: Ruby loves mealtimes and enjoys sharing this time with her humans. She dances when food is ready! She likes to chill on top of her enclosure and exercise by flapping her wings. She is a decent climber but does not fly.
Favorite Treats: Nuts of all kinds
Best Quirk: Ruby will "dance" and bob her head when she is happy
Best Fit: Ruby likes being in the same room as all the action. Since she is an older bird, she needs an owner who can monitor her health and take her to vet checkups yearly.
Can Live with Other Birds?: Yes, Ruby is great with other birds. She will even allow them to sit on the same perch if they behave!
Noise Level: Medium (can be loud when flock-calling, but doesn't do it often)
Diet: HARI Tropican pellets, Bird Street Bistro cooked food, fresh veggies and fruit, seeds and nuts
Cage & Play Area Needs: Extra large macaw cage with plenty of different perches to help exercise her feet. She prefers a misting bottle for bathing.
Health Notes: Ruby has a few minor health concerns. Her exercise was neglected for several years, so Ruby's muscles are weakened. She needs to be exercised gently so she can gradually build back her muscle tone and strength. She can also have an upset tummy at times, so probiotics are recommended.
